I submitted a Journal 2h 30m ago about an art thief who was selling prints and claiming the work of lots of artists from DeviantArt as his own with his own watermarks over them and all.

Everyone mobilized against this threat. Both his pages (on facebook and a website) have now been taken down successfully.

Thank you all who contributed to eliminate this threat and illegal operation.

Thank you all.

In other news, A Russian News Agency and a Chinese News Channel mentioned me!……

Your friend in Art,

Samuel Silva

That's really good news, it's really unfair for the artists who exerted all the effort and gave all the time they have just to finish their masterpieces, then someone buff in--claiming he had done them, even had the guts to put his own watermarks on those works. Jeeez, I feel happy for you though.. this is goin' to be charged to experience. At least every one knows now that there is a modus operandi going on like that.. fair fight

I have yet to add a watermark to any of my art, but this has gotten me to rethink things. It is a shame that people like to steal other persons work, for profit no less!! and what is even scarier is that unless some one stumbles on my work being claimed by some one else I really am oblivious to it all. Not sure how else to protect myself other than a watermark. Even though I think it distracts from the art. Shame... That all being said, I really enjoy looking at your work, I have yet to see anyone that does the quality that you do with a pen. Just out of curiousity, what do you do when you make a mistake? Cover it up? Start over? Move on and add it to the art?

Post your works in resolutions no bigger than 800pixels across. Even if stolen, the prints will be pretty crappy.
When I make a mistake that is big enough to be noticeable... I throw the drawing in the garbage. There is no other way around it! Fortunately I have enough practice to make very few big mistakes (even though I make many small ones).
